Dr. Jerome V. Giovinazzo is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and practices surgical and medical ophthalmology. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. Additionally, he completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Giovinazzo grew up on Staten Island and is dedicated to providing state of the art ophthalmic care to the community. He is well versed in the surgical treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases, dislocated intraocular lenses, complex cataracts, and the medical management of retinal disease. His interests include endophthalmitis treatment, retinal pathology, physician wellness, and ophthalmic workplace efficiency. He works in association with The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Staten Island University Hospital at different locations.
Dr. Giovinazzo’s fluency in English and medical Spanish helps him attend to patients from various cultural backgrounds. He takes a genuine interest in researching and educating himself on various new advancements in ophthalmology so that his patients get the best and the most advanced treatment possible. He has won numerous research awards at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and published multiple peer reviewed academic papers. He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
